Winston Clarke, 66 of East Hartford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 3, 2019. He was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica, W.I. on July 27, 1952. He was the son of Joseph Clarke and Avis Cawley-McKenzie and step-son of the late Joseph McKenzie. Winston was an amazing goalie and phenomenal cricket player. He was recruited to play soccer for Clarendon College and played on the National Cricket team in Jamaica. Winston relocated from Jamaica to Connecticut to be closer to his beloved mother.

Winston was a motivated and hardworking man, with a passion for cars, his absolute favorite being the classic Jaguar. His passion for automotive was so strong, that it was only natural that it become his career. In fact, he worked most of his life as a car salesman and antique car dealer. Later, serving also as a livery driver for many years.

In his free time, Winston enjoyed being around his family and friends. As many know, he had a close bond with his mother, whom he loved very deeply; likewise, he would strive to have that same connection with his own children. With his family, he shared his love of cooking, which he did very well, he hoped one day he'd have someone other than mom, make him a home-cooked Jamaican meal.

In addition to good food, sports, and antique cars, his love for reggae music could not be ignored, with the sounds of Dennis Brown, Buju Banton and of course the legendary Bob Marley playing throughout the house it's a wonder his children don't have an accent. Winston made an impact on many. Anyone who knew Winston knew he had a way with words and was such a vibrant and captivating storyteller, a storyteller that could make the listener feel like they were experiencing the events for themselves. After a successful battle with cancer, Winston was determined to encourage others to keep up the fight by participating in a charitable 5k races alongside his daughter and son-in-law.
