Steven M. Foley, 55, of South Windsor, loving husband of Jessica (Atwater) Foley, passed away at Vernon Manor after a courageous battle with juvenile diabetes. Steven was born on April 24, 1962 to Robert Foley and the late Arlee (Forrest) Foley, in Hartford, CT. He grew up in East Hartford and earned his license as a plumber, working with Dyno Nobel, Ensign-Bickford. Steven and Jessica moved to South Windsor where they spent the past years; he was a devoted father and loved playing ball with his sons. He loved working with children and all aspects of South Windsor sporting. He coached football, baseball and basketball, enjoyed fishing and camping, skeet shooting, taking trips to Vermont, and sitting back playing a few hands of poker. He was hardworking, caring and genuine, the kind of guy that always put others before himself; a man of integrity and commitment. He was a loving god father to Amy Joy Foley. He always had a smile and open arms. Steven is survived by his beloved wife, Jessica; his father, Robert Foley, of East Hartford; sons Mitchell and Michael Foley, of South Windsor; brothers, Robert Jr., of Holland, MA, and John Foley, of East Hartford; sisters, Sharen Foley, of East Hartford, Lois Robinson and her husband, Blane, of East Hartford, Linda Georgiades and her husband Bruce, of Manchester, Catherine Sforza and her husband Michael, of Bristol; 8 nieces; 6 nephews; a very special great niece, Bella, as well as 4 great nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Frances “Honey” Atwater; sister-in-law, Apryl Hamilton and her husband James of Coventry; brother-in-law, Matthew Atwater, of Baltimore; special cousin Tom Forrest and many other caring cousins and friends, along with his Aunt Ruth Kostuk and Great Aunt Fran Hubert. Calling hours are being held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 3 to 8 pm at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, CT with an informal service to conclude the visitation at 8 pm. Burial will be private at his family’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steven’s memory may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 20 Batterson Park Road, 3rd Floor, Farmington, CT 06032.
