Robert R. Richard, 70, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Sandra (Yeager) Richard, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Hartford Hospital. He was born May 13, 1947, in Lewiston, ME. Robert spent most of his life in East Hartford before moving to South Windsor two years ago. He was a graduate of Penney High School Class of 1965 and received his Associate Degree from Manchester Community College. Robert proudly served our country in the Air Force in Vietnam. He was employed as a supervisor by Hi-G, a manufacturing engineer for United Technologies Corporation, and an electronics technician at Crouse-Hinds. Robert was a quiet man with a quick sense of humor. He was a talented musician, especially on the accordion and piano. He also enjoyed reading J.R.R. Tolkien and Stephen King novels and had both a talent and passion for computers. In addition to his loving wife of 46 years, Sandra, he is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Richard and her husband Peter Marotto of South Windsor; his aunt, Theresa Roberge of St. Petersburg, FL and many cousins. He was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Mary Yeager with whom he had a close and special relationship. Relatives and friends may join the family for a visiting hour on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Center Cemetery in South Windsor. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Boulevard, Southington, CT 06489-1058.
