James E. Kristof, 74 of East Hartford passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 9, 2018. Jim served in the US Army in Vietnam and was honorably discharged after being wounded in combat in 1968. He was a member the VFW, American Legion as well as the Rocky Hill Vet Center. At Christmas time you’d find him as their resident Santa because truly with a beard like his who else could it be! Jim was a well-traveled man who loved sharing his stories about his trips to Colorado. A true genius of his time and lover of Electrical Engineering. Jim is predeceased by his wonderful parents, Frank and Jean Kristof. He sadly leaves behind his beloved sister Ruth Ann Taylor who shared her home with him for many years in East Hartford, his niece Kristen Wayner, who he walked his final journey with to the end of his battle, her husband Derek Wayner and their children Peyton, Madilyn and Olivia of South Windsor and niece Wendy Gorman and family of South Windsor. To the staff at the VA, Sam at Companions and Homemakers and Hughes Health and Rehabilitation we are grateful for the care and dedication you provided Jim through this difficult time. A celebration of his life and military honors will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Hartford. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Hartford Vet Center, 25 Elm Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067. Please visit, www.carmonfuneralhome.com for online condolences.
