Anthony J. “Tony” Liquori, 87, of East Hartford, beloved husband of Helen (McCarthy) Liquori passed away peacefully while at home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. Anthony was born in West Springfield Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Joseph Liquori and Mary (Mancini) Smith. Anthony served his country proudly as a U.S. Marine, he was also a champion candlepin bowler, winning many trophies and competitions. Anthony was an avid golfer who would leave the yard half mowed to play a round of golf. He was a member of the Rolling Meadows Country Club, where he played golf so frequently that they renamed the yearly Men’s Club golf tournament after him, calling it the “Tony Liquori Cup”. In addition to his loving wife, Helen, Anthony leaves behind his children; Nancy Liquori and her long-time companion Joseph Gonyer of Monson MA, Patricia Midwood and her husband Mark of Westfield MA, Michael Messino of East Hartford CT, Vincent Messino of Coventry CT, and Linda Valenti and her husband Joe of Vernon CT. His sister; Rosemarie Burke and her husband Jack of East Longmeadow, MA. His grandchildren; Rachel, Tracy, Emily, Victoria, Vincent, David, and Kevin. As well as his great grandchildren; Kevin and Chase, and many loving nieces and nephews. Anthony was predeceased by a daughter; Tina Messino, and his brothers Joseph and Richard Liquori, his sister Jennie Mattingly and a grandson Albert. Anthony’s family would like to send a special thank you to the Vernon Visiting Nurses Association for their care and compassion during Tony’s final days. Anthony’s family will receive friends at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor on Thursday, February 15, 2018, from 10:30 - 12:30 pm. A Memorial Service will follow in the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at the Agawam State Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors.
