Condolence & Memory Journal

I always have fond memories of my uncle as gregarious man with a commanding presence and a kind heart. One of my favorite memories is when he came to the West coast for a wedding in Sausalito, CA. My mom checked me out of junior high for the day so we could go meet them. Gary and Norene stayed in an obscure hotel with small rooms and a strange mermaid theme...Gary was not amused. We toured the city of San Francisco for the day. I've never laughed so hard. Gary had me rolling on the floor of the car with all of his jokes. We saw Lombard Street (the most crooked street in the world) and Gary's comment was "How do you get a fire engine down that?". We went out to the pier and Gary bought me a clam basket, we stared out at Alcatraz and talked. What a good day! I will always remember my uncle as the gregarious powerful man that he was, clad in gold rings and bracelets, and always good for a laugh. He will be sorely missed!

I just had a funny feeling to read the Darien obits today. We had so many good times in the seventies when Gary and Noreen were dating then in their early marriage years. Thank you so much for those days. Will never forget you Gary.

I will always thank Gary for the ride up the Fivemile River when in Boy Scouts and he took 4 of us and we learned the river. I remember Gary served in Vietnam the same time as Norwalker Gregg Taylor, and I spent time with both of them together after their service sharing experiences. Blessings to his family, I was honored to know him from those many years ago.

I am saddened to hear of Gary passing.
The good times I had at Rowayton Marine and the Firehouse with him is always fresh on my mind.
I love ya big guy...❤
