Condolence & Memory Journal

Mr. McMullen was awesome. Good-natured, supportive, just a wonderful guy. I had him for some kind of advanced reading class at FHS. Wish I'd kept in touch.

Susan, My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I remember your Dad as always having a smile and being upbeat. May your memories and these stories comfort you.

My Honors Senior English teacher in 1970-71. Absolutely up there with one of the coolest teachers, easygoing, laughing at everything. Loved him. Oh, and PS, we went to the first class (which was the First period) and he told us to do whatever we wanted for the year, which we did. Thank you, Uncle Walt, for that extra sleep that year. You will never be forgotten by many of us. Sherri Andrul Nicholas. PS I never knew til right now that Susan was your daughter!

Walt was so much more than a teacher to so many, he also was a lifelong friend. A huge positive influence on me when I was really in need of a positive one. The ability to lighten the mood while instructing and teaching was a gift. It was always a pleasure to see him and take care of him when he came into the store where I worked. My best to Susan and family and know that you shared such a good man with so many. With deepest regards. Tim Orvis. Most School Spirit Class of 71

He was my favorite FHS teacher. He always made learning fun and did it with a smile and kindness every day. I remember celebrating Millard Fillmore Day ( A holiday only celebrated in his class) on Jan 7th. He came to our class of 77 reunions and I ran into him one day about 15 years ago at the Shell station in Farmington and we had a great chat and enjoyed a good laugh. Thoughts and prayers to his family. He was a great man and a joy to have as a teacher.

A wonderful man and great teacher and loved by all, he was my all time favorite! I think of him when I bless someone that sneezed, he would stop class and say "bless you" to anyone that sneezed and then when they said "thank you", he would say, "you're welcome!" I do that all the time too , learned by him. He was so much more than an English teacher, he was an angel and now he really is one! God bless him and may he rest in peace. Condolences to his family.

He was one of, if not my favorite teacher. Loved his sense of humor.Condolences to his family,I am sure he will be missed by all.Margaret(Peg) Churchville Orvis FHS Class of 64 and Jim Orvis FHS Class of 66.

A little memory, a classmate was harassing me in class and Mr. MC Mullen asked me to step outside the door, he then asked to see my hands. I showed him and he said they will do. I looked questioningly at him and he'd said why don't you haul off and belt him. I said he is just looking for attention. He then said ok as long as you know what he is doing and we laughed.
